Frequently Asked Questions
Studio 45 Fitness uses a multi-disciplined method to total body conditioning in a 45 minute group session. This proven method for total body conditioning, Lagree Fitness, was created by Hollywood Celebrity Fitness Guru, Sebastien Lagree.
The 1st component of the method is the patented M3™ megaformer machine, inspired by the traditional Pilates Reformer but redesigned &enhanced around how the body moves. Because of its expert design, the M3 allows the body to quickly & safely reach muscle failure while incorporating the therapeutic benefits of Pilates. These machines are key to the workout & we are proud to be the first studio in Australia to be using them.
The 2nd component of the method is the routine itself which includes specific sequencing of 25-30 easy to learn exercises during a single 45 minute session. Each Full Body 45 session is unrepeatable as there are over 300 patent pending exercises that an instructor has to choose from. Each exercise performed on the M3 is done in a slow & controlled manner, keeping constant tension on the muscles & igniting your body’s slow twitch muscle fibres, your fat burning muscle fibres, to transform your body composition.
The 3rd & equally important component of the method is the expert instruction. The instructors at Studio 45 Fitness have been certified by Sebastien Lagree himself in Hollywood. Aside from learning each exercise, the instructors are skilled in building routine blocks that allow your body to burn 500-700 calories in a single 45 minute session. The innovative M3, targeted exercises &expert instruction combine for an unrepeatable experience allowing you to burn fat & build long, lean, sexy muscles without putting any stress on your joints or connective tissue!
Lagree Fitness is an innovative workout specifically designed to strengthen, tighten, and tone the body quickly and safely. Simply put, Lagree is the most innovative and aggressive approach to full body conditioning. Here are some key elements to fitness visionary Sebastien Lagree’s widely endorsed training program:
Slow & Controlled Movement
The lifting and lowering phases of each repetition is at least 4 seconds to eliminate any momentum. Lifting slowly and with control forces the muscles to stay contracted throughout the entire range of motion, a key factor in promoting strength. The “constant” tension recruits more muscle fibers and is a very efficient way to “wake up” muscles that have gotten used to traditional methods. Another advantage is the smaller risk of injury compared to other methods of lifting; many joint injuries occur from lifting weights too fast.
Constant Tension
Lagree Fitness™ keeps muscles at a maximum tension throughout the duration of the exercise. The muscles are not allowed to relax for even a fraction of a second during the rep. This type of training is very effective for building strength and muscle definition.
Muscle Failure
Each set is designed to work the muscle to failure – when the muscle can no longer move or contract concentrically. During a session, each set allows you to progress through all 4 motor unit types. Your body will start by recruiting your slow twitch fibers first. As the set progresses and those fibers weaken, your body will recruit your fast intermediate muscles fibers. Finally for the last 2 to 20 seconds of the set, your body will recruit your fast twitch fibers. This progressive overloading stimulates the biggest amount of muscle fibers and creates the greatest metabolic response.
Multiple Muscles
Lagree Fitness™ works multiple muscles at the same time. Some movements work over 600 muscles at once! Aside for being extremely time efficient; working multiple muscles at the same time burns more calories than isolation exercises; develops core strength faster; stimulates balance and body coordination better; keeps the heart rate up; and build strength quicker than isolation movements.
Intensity
Intensity is the amount of effort required or the amount of energy required to do the work. Lagree Fitness™ exercises are very intense but minimize the stress on the joints and the spine. In addition, it’s very easy to increase the intensity on the Megaformer due to its counter resistance setting.
You can burn 500-700 calories during class. Since it’s a slow burn workout, the body will continue to burn calories for a few hours after!
Studio 45 Fitness classes keep the heart rate up & burns extra calories thanks to the specific & effective circuit training sequence. The workout is designed to work your body to muscle fatigue at which point you need to rest.
Depending on your fitness level & the intensity of your workout, you will need more or less time to recover. We recommend 2 to 3 times a week to allow your body to properly recover & repair – this is where you will gain the most effective results. Listen to your body.
- When attending your first class – PLEASE ARRIVE AT LEAST 5 MINUTES EARLY so we can provide a brief rundown of the method and the megaformer machine. If you do not arrive early, we cannot have you participate in the class due to safety and liability issues. Your intro class will be forfeited.
- Most importantly, bring a positive attitude. You may bring your stress but plan on leaving it behind when you leave! The class is for you. You need to be present minded when working out to maximize the benefits of the class.
- This workout will make you sweat, so bring a towel.
- Wear comfortable clothes that allow your muscles to stretch & your skin to “breathe”. Preferably not too loose or baggy so instructors are able to see your alignment & form.
- ToeSox (grip socks) to give you added stability during class (if you don’t have a pair, you can buy at our studio).
- Please do not bring… Jewelry, strong perfume, lotions or oils & silence your mobile phones. Thank you!
It depends on your current fitness level. Most of our new students do great in the small group classes. The workout is intense, the routine is kept simple & the instructors are here to make sure everyone is using good form. However, if you have chronic back pain, painful joints, a severe medical condition or have not been physically active in the past, it is recommended to take a private session first to assess your fitness level.
Our automated online booking system can be found on our homepage under the “schedule” tab.
Once you have created an account, you can view the class schedule or purchase sessions or a membership pass that fits your needs. PLEASE NOTE THE EXPIRATION DATE OF YOUR PURCHASE – THIS DATE CANNOT BE EXTENDED DUE TO CLASS CAPACITIES.
If you forget your password or need more info, please call us or send an email to info@studio45fitness.com.au
Sorry, but all purchases are final, & are not transferable. Some of our memberships require signing a contract for auto-payments. Please make sure that you look these over carefully & fully understand the rules before signing them.
If you cannot make class, please cancel at least 3 hours prior to the class start time to avoid losing that class credit. Private sessions require 24 hours notice otherwise will be forfeited. No exceptions so please don’t ask, we only have limited spots!
Honestly, we would love to meet your adorable children, but due to safety & insurance concerns we cannot allow children to stay in the studio while class is in session. It is not safe to have little hands near the machines or to have other clients distracted while they are in poses that require concentration & balance. Same rule applies for your furry friends too.
The waitlist is a great way to get your Studio 45 Fitness addiction met! If a class is full and you would like to be added to the wait list, click on Sign Up and a new window will pop up asking if you want to be added to the wait list. Click “ok” if you do. You can see your wait list schedule on your schedule tab, by clicking on the wait list link on the top right of your schedule page (if you have at least 1 waitlist). You can also cancel your waitlist class from this screen.
The waitlist is an automatic process where if someone cancels within 3 hours to the start of class, and you are on the waitlist, you will be automatically pushed into the class. Since we allow members to booked 28 days in advance, the likelihood of someone cancelling is very high, and if you are on waitlist, assume you are getting in. That means planning ahead and making sure you are ready to attend.
Be mindful, if you add to an early 6:15am waitlist, someone could cancel at 3am, and since for that member it is an early cancel (more than 3 hours before the class) this will trigger the waitlist to automatically move you in. You will now be expected to show. We recommend that members on an early morning waitlist set their alarms as if they have a confirmed spot, log into the system in the morning, and check if they got in. If you did get in, head on down for your shake, sweat and burn. If you didn’t, go back to bed or get an early start on the day.
An email is generated automatically when the waitlist is triggered and someone is automatically moved in. Email servers though are out of our control, and if for some reason your waitlist confirmation email is delayed or spammed you are still required to check the booking system to confirm. The email is just a courtesy, and the safest way to check if you were added is through the booking system. Please be mindful when setting your profile preferences because if you have opted out of notifications, you will NOT receive these waitlist confirmation emails.
If someone late cancels (cancels less than 3 hours before the start of the class), the waitlist will not automatically move you in. If we see you on the waitlist, we will try to text to see if you are still keen. You are more than welcome to log in and manually book that class yourself. An example of this would be: you are on the waitlist for 6:15am, someone cancels at 5:30am. You wake up and log into your account to see if you were added from the waitlist and see that you were not since it was a late cancel and can then manually book the class.
By signing up for the waitlist you agree to the following terms:
1) It is your responsibility to check to see if you made it into the class by logging into your account less than 3 hours before the start of the class. Your schedule will read “waitlist confirmed” if you were moved in.
2) If you no show or late cancel that waitlist confirmed spot, you will be processed the same way as if this was a regularly booked spot.
3) If you no longer wish to possibly attend the class, you need to remove yourself from the waitlist, prior to 3 hours, to ensure you will not be moved in automatically. There are many times several people are on a waitlist, so please be mindful that someone else might want that spot.
4) Do not add yourself to waitlist if you are already confirmed for your spots for the week and/or the same day.
5) For our 12 Week Pass members, please remember if you are booked in for your allotted number of visits for the week, and add yourself to any waitlist(s), you will not get those waitlisted classes should they become available as the system does not know which of your confirmed visits to replace that waitlist class with.
